A home run for public transportation
Located in the middle of the Bronx, the Yankee-East 153rd Street Station facilitates transportation to and from Yankee Stadium, the sixth-largest stadium in Major League Baseball (MLB) by seating capacity. The station provides daily local service on MNR’s Hudson Line between Manhattan and Westchester County and additional frequent game-day shuttles to bring fans within a short walking distance to the stadium and alleviate traffic congestion. As the lead Joint Venture partner, Halmar was responsible for the design-build contract to construct the new MNR station which included new platforms, a covered mezzanine, a bridge over MNR track and a pedestrian overpass, elevators, and stairs. Work also included the installation of track, new Con Edison feeder vault and station systems consisting of electrical power, communication, HVAC, lighting, CCTV infrastructure, and Customer Information Sign (CIS) infrastructure. The project was successfully constructed on a compressed 24-month design-build schedule.
