Urgency
Replacing a 132-year-old viaduct, 51 months ahead of schedule.
This complex design-build project is part of MNR’s initiative to replace the 132-year-old Park Avenue Viaduct, the main artery that carries all Metro-North Railroad trains into and out of Grand Central Terminal in NYC and is part of 98% of their operations. Phase 1 and Phase 1 North is the replacement of the substructure and superstructure from 115th St to 123rd St and from 127th St to 132nd St on Park Avenue. Our Halmar innovations include the unmistakable addition of three custom Mi-Jack gantries, 60ft tall spanning the entirety of the 4 track viaduct, allowing all MNR operations and commuters to pass without disruptions. A major milestone was reached in October 2025, with the project being 51 months ahead of schedule and $93 million dollars under budget. 19 Bridge Replacement Outages Weekends since June 2024 and 128 individual sections of track replaced, Phase 1 section of the project is completed.
