After math of Hurricane Sandy

Protecting PANYNJ & our infrastructure

Due to the destruction of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, PATH’s facilities susceptible to flood damage in the Harrison, Newark and Hoboken areas of New Jersey required protection from future floods. Halmar successfully provided Construction Management/General Contracting (CMGC) services on several PATH project work orders consisting of installing flood barrier wall and associated flood prevention measures at the PATH Harrison Car Maintenance Facility (HCMF) and PATH Substation 8 (Sub 8), and installing flood mitigating barriers at several PATH facilities in New Jersey. All work was performed near active rail and operational substation and passenger stations, requiring strict safety measures and efficient use of flagmen and force account. Halmar scheduled all work to avoid impacts to ongoing operations, parking conditions at HCMF, and the busy pedestrian traffic in Hoboken Station.
