In 2017, Halmar joined the ASTM Group, the second largest toll road concessionaire by road miles in the world. Together with the ASTM Group, Halmar now provides all aspects of design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance, and technological innovation for transportation Public-Private-Partnership (P3) projects.

Where it all started
Halmar Construction was formally incorporated in 1962. The firm continues to grow and expand its services to include engineering.

Bill Murphy joins Halmar, bringing a new level of quality and professionalism, a critical ingredient in the firm’s success.

The future generation
Chris Larsen and Paul Atkins join Halmar. Halmar spends the entire decade at JFK putting in place over $350M of construction and continues to stake its claim as the leader in bridge and highway construction throughout the Hudson Valley.

The new millennium marks Halmar’s major expansion into the flourishing transit market. Halmar Construction is acquired by Granite Construction, forming Granite Halmar.

Chris Larsen and Paul Atkins establish Halmar International with the mission of fostering a company and culture founded on trust and respect. The company quickly grows to be one of the largest civil contractor in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.
