Halmar gets LEED Gold at Potomac Yard Station

Halmar International, along with WMATA and its JV partner Schiavone, are proud to announce that the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station has received LEED Gold certification, the first rail station in North America to receive this achievement. The new station, located in Alexandria, VA, sets a new standard for mass transit by enhancing accessibility for its users and is a prime example for sustainable transportation and construction. Halmar is honored to have built this transit center and is committed to building the future, and delivering innovative sustainable projects that benefit our communities and environment for years to come!

What is LEED and why does it matter? LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the world’s most widely used green building rating system. LEED certification provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social and governance benefits. This is an exceptional certification for Halmar, WMATA, the Potomac Yard Constructors team, and for the transportation and infrastructure industry. This is 1st LEED Gold Certified new Rail Station and 2nd new Transit Station in the world to receive this certification. A big congratulations to the team for building this state-of-the-art station.
