MTA C&D Awards Halmar MNR Park Ave Viaduct Replacement Phase 1 Design-Build Project
The $381 million project will replace segments of the elevated steel structure which Metro-North trains utilize to travel to and from Grand Central Terminal
This design-build (DB) contract represents the first phase of a long-term project to bring a 1.25-mile stretch encompassing four Metro-North tracks between 110th Street and the Harlem River Lift Bridge to a state of good repair. Halmar will completely replace the viaduct from the north side of East 115th Street to the south side of East 123rd Street, including existing sub- and super-structures, tracks, power, communications, and signal system. Halmar, together with Lead Designer AECOM, is applying innovative design solutions and construction methods to minimize impacts to the railroad and the community in this critical corridor located directly above Harlem’s active city streets, vibrant neighborhoods, and businesses. The project is set for completion in the summer of 2026, a remarkable 21 months ahead of the expected schedule!
